Bio

A native Chicagoan, Rob began his musical journey playing guitar in garage bands during high school and completely clueless about the world’s coolest instrument – the dobro. A few years later he experienced what can only be described as a series of musical epiphanies when he saw Jerry Douglas playing the dobro with Emmylou Harris (at the now defunct Mill Run Theatre in Niles, IL) and then David Lindley playing his vintage Weissenborn guitar (at McCabes Guitar Shop in Santa Monica, California). Rob is mostly self-taught, but along the way he has studied with Jerry Douglas, Sally Van Meter, Andy Hall and Randy Kohrs. A former high school teacher, Rob uses a variety of effective teaching methods to bring out the best in his students.
