Disclaimer: my tablature is not note-for-note
accurate! In some cases the tablature is close to the original tune, in other
cases it is my rendition of the tune and may not be even close to the
original. Writing tablature is extremely time consuming and tedious work. I
don't read music, which is probably the reason why my tab is more of an
approximation of a tune, a starting point, than an exact manuscript. I hope that
the combination of the sound clips and tablature will point you in the right
direction.
My rendition of this tune (written by Russ Barenberg and Jerry Douglas) is based on what I heard Jerry play at Telluride Bluegrass Academy. The recorded version is arranged as a trio (guitar, bass and dobro) but the tune works really well as a solo piece; although you do have to rethink the bridge section a little bit.
should be called Tumeni Notes! My attempt to tab out one of my favorite Jerry Douglas tunes from MCA master series record Plant Early. Written by Jerry Douglas and Russ Barenberg
Red Haired Boy is in the key of A and one of those tunes which is often played on dobro out of G position with a capo on the 2nd fret. I've grown to prefer playing it out without a capo because it offers different possibilities for some Irish sounding embellishments as well as some "stinky" grace notes (which are easier to play than they are to notate, which is why the version here is pretty straightforward)
