Rama P. Jama A tune that I co-wrote with Colby Maddox. Rama P. Jama was the name of a new age/world music radio show I used to listen to when I lived in Santa Cruz, CA in 1989. Rama was a terrific radio personality who turned me onto a lot of very cool world and (believe it or not) new age music, so I named this tune after him
Listen A cut from Destination Euphoria by my friend Jim Green - The Wandering Endorphin. I met Jim at a Borders' Books Open Mic Night I used to host a few years ago. I was completely blown away by his unique guitar technique (inspired by Michael Hedges and Preston Reed, but it's his own style)...anyway, I was honored to be part of this record.
This is fine Years ago I used to spend a lot of time with my friend Pete Mancuso who owned a music store at the time. We would get together and jam and he would write tunes on the spot. I really liked the way this tune came together. Pete is a great guy and one of the most generous people I have ever known.
Memphis Train On the new cd by the band Farwell. I have known Ben Brittsan and Seth August for a few years now. They write great songs and I love to play with them. I really liked this tune the first time I heard it and I am really happy with the way it turned out.
Wonder of Life I met Mark Paffrath at a benefit gig I did with my friend Kevin O'Donnell a few years ago. He called me about a year later and asked me to play on a couple of cuts on his new c.d. -Soothe. This is a tune he wrote for his son. Mark is a great songwriter; Soothe is a really nice record and I am happy to have played on it.

Minor Swing

Tune written by Colby Maddox when he was touring with (Chicago based bluegrass band) Special Consensus; with Mike Church (guitar) and Tom Culver (cello). I met Mike a couple of years ago at the Naperville bluegrass festival and hold him in high regard. He's a really talented guitarist who loves bluegrass and specializes in gypsy swing music with his band Grasslands Quintet. Tom and I both played on The Wandering Endorphin's Destination Euphoria project. Anyway, we had just learned this tune when Colby's friend Dan Epstein (from Columbia College) came by the Old Town School of Folk Music with his field recording gear. It was very cool to play with these guys and I look forward to playing with them on June 11 at the Andersonville Street Fair in Chicago
